UPTAKE is a research project, coordinated by the Foundation CMCC, that aims to develop resilient CDR strategies based on strengthened scientific evidence on the social, technological, economic, and environmental characteristics of CDR technologies and their interplay.

The first two conferences in this series were held at the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, bringing together leading experts to explore emerging research on negative CO₂ emissions and their role in climate strategies.
The third edition, organized by the CO2RE Hub and hosted in Oxford, expanded the conversation by connecting academic researchers with start-ups, innovators, and large-scale demonstrator projects supported by international research programs.
These previous conferences have helped establish a vibrant global network of scholars and practitioners working to better understand the opportunities, risks, and governance challenges associated with carbon removal.
