The Venue

Founded in 1863 by Francesco Brioschi, the Politecnico di Milano has played a crucial role in the scientific and technological development of the country. Over time, it has expanded its territorial presence, establishing direct contact with local communities. In parallel, it has established relationships and alliances with the leading international technological universities. Today, Politecnico di Milano is recognized as a center of excellence in Engineering, Architecture and Design.

It is one of the most significant architectural presences within the historic campus of the university. Designed between 1953 and 1961 by an exceptional trio of Italian architects—Giordano Forti, Gio Ponti, and Piero Portaluppi—the building was conceived as a modern space dedicated to architectural education and experimentation. It was officially inaugurated in 1961 and has since hosted generations of architecture students, scholars, and professionals.

Today the building continues to play a central role in the academic life of the Politecnico di Milano, serving not only as a place for teaching but also as a venue for conferences, workshops, and cultural events related to architecture and design.

Transport Information

From Milano Centrale railway station

Take Metro Line 2 (Green Line) towards Cologno or Gessate. Get off at Piola and follow the signs to the Politecnico. Once in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, proceed to the reception desk at the main entrance. Travel time from Milano Centrale to the campus is approximately 10 minutes.

From Malpensa Airport

Take the Malpensa Express train to Milano Centrale. From there, follow the metro directions above (Line 2 – Green Line). Total travel time is approximately 1 hour and 15–30 minutes. Alternatively, shuttle buses are available from the airport to Milano Centrale, though they usually take longer.

From Linate Airport

Take Metro Line 4 (Blue Line) towards San Cristoforo. Get off at Argonne, then take bus no. 93 towards Stazione Lambrate FS and get off at the stop Via Bassini – Via Ponzio. Cross the street in the opposite direction of the bus stop and enter the campus through the driveway at Via Ponzio, 25.

From Orio al Serio Airport

Take a shuttle bus to Milano Centrale, then follow the metro directions above (“From Milano Centrale”). Total travel time is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Milano Centrale – Campus Leonardo: 15–20 minutes
Linate Airport – Campus Leonardo: 15–20 minutes
Malpensa Airport – Campus Leonardo: 1 hour
